There's only one United. Manchester United.

As a kid growing up most Jamaicans I knew supported Liverpool, the English League team most featured on local television. This was primarily because of their success and the fact that Liverpool’s John Barnes was Jamaican. I, too, was a Liverpool supporter for the first few years I watching football, but by default more than anything else.

As the teenage years rolled around and I watched more football, the fast-paced United game captivated me. I think I became a full-fledged Manchester United fan the first day I saw Ryan Giggs play. He was on debut, and showed a level of composure, skill, speed and quality that matched anything in the league at the time. That team gave me a desire then that is now stronger than ever, to want to see every United game, waiting impatiently for the next one as soon as soon as the final whistle blew on the last…

It wasn’t just Giggs, but many other players who brought the United philosophy to life with their pace and skill… other wingers like Kanchelskis, Lee Sharpe, Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo. But what got me about United was that they had great balance… solid defenders, hard tacklers in the midfield, role players who contributed a lot to the squad and a manager who stuck to his guns and ran the team with unquestioned and absolute authority.

Peter Schmeichel, Irwin, Pallister, Hughes, McClair, Eric Cantona,, Ince, Scholes, Sheringham, Solskjaer, Yorke, Cole, Von Nistelrooy, Van Der Saar, Rooney. I’ve been privileged to see some great football and players, and look forward to each new signing or player promotion to the first team. There have been very good times, great times, not-so-good times but i stick with my team through thick and thin; for me there is only one United and they stand above every else.

and one more… just because I love the audio
